So, What Is a Sharing Economy?
The term sharing economy was originally used to describe what we now call the "access" and "on-demand" economies. In the purest sense, the sharing economy was developed for people to share unused resources with their local community or city. Things like unused rooms, apartments, cars, etc., were meant to be shared either for free or for a fee via peer-to-peer online sites or apps. However, participants quickly modified the use/conduct of the first sites, and the sharing economy became purely for profit. We're sure there are a few exceptions out there of participants adhering to the original goals, but they would be the exception and not the rule.
